What Is Instant Funding? How an Instant Funding Prop Firm Works
Instant funding skips the challenge: you pay once and trade a funded account from the first trade. Here is how it works, which rules still apply and who it suits.
What is instant funding? It is a way to get a funded trading account without passing an evaluation first. With a normal prop firm challenge, you trade a test account until you hit a profit target, and only then do you get a funded account. An instant funding prop firm drops that step: you pay a one-time fee, the account is activated, and you trade it as a funded account from your first trade.
That sounds simple, and in one sense it is. But instant does not mean rule-free. This guide explains what instant funding actually is, how it compares to a challenge, which rules apply on an instant account at Core Funded, what it costs, and how payouts work.
What instant funding means
A prop firm (short for proprietary trading firm) lets you trade its capital and pays you a share of the profit. Most firms first ask you to prove yourself in an evaluation, usually called a challenge. You reach a profit target while staying inside loss limits, and after that you receive the funded account.
Instant funding removes the evaluation. There is no Phase 1, no Phase 2 and no profit target to reach before you are funded. You buy the account, and the account you trade is already the funded one. On a Core Funded instant funded account there is no profit target at all, so nothing stands between your first profitable days and your first payout request except the trading rules.
What stays the same is risk management. The firm takes on your trading from day one, so loss limits apply from the first trade instead of only after a challenge.
Instant funding vs. a challenge
The clearest way to see what instant funding changes is to put it next to the challenge accounts. These are the rules for the three account types at Core Funded:
| Rule | Instant | 1-Step | 2-Step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profit target | None | 10% | 10%, then 5% |
| Max daily loss | 3% | 3% | 5% |
| Max total loss (static) | 5% | 6% | 8% |
| Min. qualifying trading days | 5 | 3 | 3 |
| Consistency rule (at payout) | 15% | 30% | 30% |
| Time limit | None | None | None |
| Profit split | 80%, up to 95% | 80%, up to 95% | 80%, up to 95% |
Two things stand out. First, instant funding skips the profit target completely. Second, the limits are tighter: the total loss limit is 5% instead of 6% or 8%, and the consistency rule allows a single day to make up at most 15% of your total profit instead of 30%. That is the trade-off. You save the time of a challenge, and in exchange you trade inside a narrower range from day one.
If you would rather pass an evaluation with more room, compare the 1-Step challenge and the 2-Step challenge.
The rules on an instant funded account
Max daily loss: 3%
Each day at 00:00 UTC, the higher of your balance or equity is taken, and 3% of your original account balance is subtracted from it. Your equity must not fall below that level during the day. The limit resets every day at 00:00 UTC. Unrealized losses on open positions count.
Max total loss: 5%, static
The total loss limit is a static drawdown. It is calculated once from your starting balance and does not move up when you make profit. On a $100,000 account the floor is $95,000, and it stays at $95,000 whether your account is at $100,000 or $108,000. Every dollar of profit widens the distance between your equity and that floor. If equity, including open positions, drops below the floor, the account is stopped.
5 qualifying trading days
You need 5 trading days with at least 0.5% net realized profit each before your first payout. The days do not have to be consecutive. For every payout after the first, you need at least 3 qualifying days since your previous payout.
Consistency rule: 15%
When you request a payout, no single day may account for more than 15% of your total profit. Each day counts with the highest net profit it reached at any point that day, even if you gave some of it back before the close. If one day is over the limit, you keep trading until your total profit is large enough.
Time limit and inactivity
There is no time limit. The only rule about time: an account with no trade for 30 days is closed.
Worked example: a $100,000 instant account
Here is how the rules look in numbers on a $100,000 instant account.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Price | 1,195€ |
| Starting balance | $100,000 |
| Static loss floor (5%) | $95,000 |
| Daily loss limit | 3% of $100,000 = $3,000 below the day's reference level |
| Qualifying day | at least $500 net realized profit (0.5%) |
| Profit target | none |
Say you trade for two weeks and close with $4,000 in total profit, spread over seven days with at least $500 each. You have more than 5 qualifying days. For the consistency rule, 15% of $4,000 is $600, so no single day may have peaked above $600 of net profit. If your best day peaked at $550, you meet the rule and can request a payout.
On the default 80% split, $4,000 profit means a payout of $3,200. With the 95% split upgrade, it is $3,800.
Now the daily limit. Suppose your balance at 00:00 UTC is $104,000 and you have no open trades. Your equity must not drop below $101,000 that day ($104,000 minus $3,000). The static floor stays at $95,000 the whole time.
What an instant funded account costs
You pay a one-time fee. There is no monthly subscription. These are the list prices:
| Account size | Price |
|---|---|
| $5,000 | 95€ |
| $10,000 | 195€ |
| $25,000 | 385€ |
| $50,000 | 685€ |
| $100,000 | 1,195€ |
| $200,000 | 1,795€ |
| $300,000 | 2,395€ |
| $400,000 | 2,995€ |
Instant accounts cost more than a challenge of the same size because you skip the evaluation. A $10,000 instant account is 195€, a $10,000 2-Step challenge is 95€.
New traders can use the code WELCOME at checkout for 50% off the first account. The discount code page explains how it works. The fee is refunded with your fourth payout.
How payouts work on instant accounts
Payouts are on demand. You request them in Match-Trader whenever you meet the conditions above. The identity check happens once, on your first payout request.
Payouts go out by bank transfer or crypto within 24 hours. If a payout takes longer, you keep 100% of the profit split for that request. The default split is 80%, and you can upgrade it to 90% or 95% at checkout. The payouts page covers the full process.
On a funded account you can also grow your capital through the scaling plan: make 12% profit within a 3-month period and your account grows by 25% of its starting balance, for example from $100,000 to $125,000. This repeats up to $10,000,000 in total capital.
Trading conditions
Instant accounts run on Match-Trader with 1:100 leverage (1:5 on crypto). You can trade forex, indices, commodities and crypto, and crypto trades 24/7. Holding positions overnight and over the weekend is allowed, and so are EAs and trade copiers.
On funded accounts, which an instant account is from the start, trades opened or closed from 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after high-impact news don't count toward your profit. The optional News Trading upgrade at checkout removes that window. The trading rules list everything in detail.
Who instant funding suits
Instant funding fits you if you already trade with tight risk control and want to skip a test phase. A 5% total limit and a 3% daily limit leave little room for large swings, so it suits traders with small position sizes and a steady approach.
It also suits traders who prefer to pay once for a funded account instead of paying for a challenge and then waiting to pass it. Because there is no profit target, you can trade at your own pace and request a payout once you have your qualifying days.
If you want more room for drawdowns or a lower entry price, a challenge may fit better. The 2-Step has an 8% total limit and starts at 45€, and the 2-Step Flex has no daily loss limit and a 12% total limit. You can compare all account types on the funded account page.
Questions and answers
